Former Aston Villa midfielder and pundit Lee Hendrie believes that Sheffield United will regret allowing Jayden Bogle join Leeds United.

Bogle headed to Elland Road in the summer, joining for a 'significant undisclosed fee' on a four-year deal.

Since then, the defender has been a firm fixture in the Leeds setup, playing 33 matches whilst chipping in with four goals and two assists.

This has seen Daniel Farke's men rise to the top of the Championship table, with a three-point gap to their closest rivals, and Bogle's former employers, Sheffield United.

Given the key role the right-back has played in their success thus far, Chris Wilder will surely be wishing he'd kept hold of the former Derby County man.

When Aston Villa legend Hendrie spoke exclusively to Football League World, he was quizzed on whether he thought the Blades regretted allowing Bogle to go.

The 47-year-old replied: "Yeah, I certainly think so. I know Jayden Bogle is a very talented player.

"In his time at Derby I've seen him and at Sheffield United he had some great performances there. He had that injury that set him back a little bit, and then he made that move to Leeds.

"I think they [Sheffield United] will be looking back at that and feeling that they had a potentially very good player on their hands.

"Sometimes it doesn't have the fit, you want to get away and change where you're actually at. I think he suits the way that Leeds play because the full-backs get high up the pitch. He can go and get involved.

"I've always thought that he's an attacking-minded full-back, but defensively he has them good attributes.

"But yes, I think [the answer] to the question is that they will regret that they've let him slip between their fingers and head to Leeds because it looks like he could be playing in the Premier League, maybe against them as well. That'll be one that they'll look at and think 'I wish we'd kept hold of him'."

Bogle was a superb signing by Leeds

Leeds have been highly impressive so far this season. Despite a crushing defeat in the play-off final at the hands of Southampton, Farke's side have shown no signs of this playing on their minds, and look like they'll be very difficult to catch.

With plenty of business in and out of the club in the summer, it looks like stealing Bogle from their promotion rivals was an excellent piece of business. As Hendrie mentioned, the defender seems more suited to Leeds' style of football, which allows him to push further up the pitch and get involved in attacks.

Given that Sheffield United are in a direct battle with Leeds for the Championship trophy, in hindsight, selling Bogle to the Whites may have been a decision which cost them the title. Of course, at the time they didn't know this, but will now look back on the decision with some regret.

Despite coming under fire for West Brom's goal on Saturday, the 24-year-old has been one of Leeds' standout players this season. With his continued contributions to his side's title bid, this one will undoubtedly hurt the Blades.
