Lee Hendrie believes the Tractor Boys should sign a Premier League midfielder on loan before the end of the transfer window.
Ipswich Town have been linked with a loan move for Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley following their failed attempt to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough.
The Tractor Boys have already strengthened in midfield this summer with the signings of Azor Matusiwa and Jens Cajuste, but Kieran McKenna seemingly wants another new player in that area of the pitch, having lost Sam Morsy and Massimo Luongo.
It was reported earlier this month that Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney had turned down a move to Portman Road after a £20m deal was agreed between both clubs.
However, Football League World exclusively revealed that Ipswich have re-ignited their interest in the 23-year-old, but the Championship promotion hopefuls have also identified other targets in case Hackney cannot be convinced to complete a move to Suffolk.
Bournemouth duo Lewis Cook and Phillip Billing are both reportedly on Ipswich's list, while Newcastle United youngster Lewis Miley is also said to be a loan target for Kieran McKenna's side.
Sky Sports pundit, Lee Hendrie, spoke exclusively to Football League World about Ipswich Town's interest in Lewis Miley, stating that he believes a loan move for the 19-year-old would be a good deal for all parties.
"Lewis Miley came on at the weekend against Villa," Hendrie said.
"I think it is going to be really difficult for him to break into that Newcastle side, particularly with the likes of Ramsey going there now as well, and how strong they are in that midfield area.
"I think this would be a really big signing for Ipswich Town. I really do, because I like Miley, he is good on the ball. It would be a good loan spell for him, particularly with a promotion-pushing football club.
"This would be good for both clubs, really. It is just whether Newcastle allow this to happen.
"I would imagine that this would be a great time for him to go and get real game time - probably a full season under his belt."
If Ipswich are unable to complete a deal to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough before the end of the transfer window, which seems like a real possibility given he turned them down earlier this month, then Lewis Miley would be an excellent alternative if Newcastle are willing to sanction a temporary departure.
Despite still being a teenager, Miley has a physical profile that would suit the Championship, and the fact that he made his 33rd Premier League appearance for Newcastle on Saturday shows that he has experience beyond his years.
The 19-year-old has contributed to victories against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, so he could prove to be a quality option for Kieran McKenna in the second tier if Ipswich do end up bringing him in on loan.
Miley has shown that he is capable of making an impact in the final third, having scored and assisted a handful of goals for Newcastle so far, meaning he could be an important signing for the Tractor Boys as they look to improve on their steady start to the Championship season during the remainder of the campaign.
