Inter Milan have enquired about the availability of Atalanta wingback Davide Zappacosta as a replacement for Tajon Buchanan, SempreInter.com have learned.

The 32-year old Atalanta wingback Davide Zappacosta has been linked to Inter in the past on several occasions.

The Nerazzurri have targeted the former Chelsea man previously. In the summer of 2022, rumors stated that Denzel Dumfries was on his way out.

Zappacosta was a potential replacement. But the Dutchman ended up staying and Inter’s interest never materialized.

However, maybe this summer things could change after Tajon Buchanan broke his tibia.

It was during training ahead of the Copa America quarterfinal with Canada that Buchanan injured himself.

Since then Inter have been pondering on whether or not to sign a replacement.

Therefore, after Buchanan’s injury, there could be an opening for Zappacosta at Inter. Earlier today, the Nerazzurri made an enquiry into the availability of the player, SempreInter can reveal.

Inter are not keen on spending a hefty transfer fee on a replacement for Buchanan. Subsequently, if Zappacosta is to join Inter, it would be on loan.

Inter are reportedly close to offloading Argentina international Valentin Carboni to Olympique Marseille. Several reports suggest that fee could be in the region of €30 million.

Argentina forward Joaquin Correa is also on the Nerazzurri chopping block.

Furthermore, reports emerged today that Inter are keen on Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno, Napoli are in advanced talks with both the player and the club.

Therefore, Inter President Beppe Marotta does not want to spend cash on a replacement for Buchanan, SempreInter can confirm.

However, Inter are yet to make a formal offer for Zappacosta. The Nerazzurri interest is still at an embryonic stage. Inter have not yet decided on who to go after as a replacement for Buchanan.

Meanwhile, Zappacosta has given his availability to the move. And Atalanta will not block his exit. That is if an offer arrives.

Zappacosta current deal with the Europa League champions is set to expire in June 2025.
