Former Foxes frontman Emile Heskey has backed Leicester City to make a move for Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior.
Former Leicester City striker Emile Heskey believes Liam Rosenior would consider a move to the Foxes despite his successes in France with Strasbourg.
Uncertainty clouds Leicester over who will lead the club on their return to the Championship, with the East Midlands outfit enduring a miserable top-flight campaign under a combination of Steve Cooper and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The latter currently remains in his post at the King Power Stadium, with Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett claiming the Dutchman is still yet to discuss his future with the Leicester board after the Premier League season concluded.
Meanwhile, speculation lingers on about replacements, as Dorsett confirmed both Liam Rosenior and Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl were under consideration for the role.
Rosenior has previous Championship managerial experience with Hull City after narrowly missing out on the play-offs in the 2023-24 season, while he has since helped Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Conference League and signed a new contract with the French outfit at the end of April.
Nevertheless, the Foxes are keen to help persuade Rosenior to make a swift return to England, with Emile Heskey weighing his thoughts in over a potential appointment.
Speaking exclusively to Football League World (via Poker Scout), ex-Leicester City frontman Emile Heskey believes Liam Rosenior could be tempted by a move to the East Midlands due to the Foxes possessing such impressive resources.
Heskey said: “Leicester have got one of the best training facilities in the country, they have a fantastic stadium and good support, which are three things that are essential to them, so when Leicester come in, it will turn people’s heads.
“Whether it’s the right thing for Liam right now, I don’t know. He did really well at Hull, is on a fantastic trajectory at Strasbourg, and I’m sure Strasbourg is connected to Chelsea as well, so you will have all these things going on in your mind as a manager, but if Leicester comes in, then he will have to sit down, talk to them, and I’m sure he’ll be blown away by some of the stuff they have, but then it’s about whether everything fits that he wants.”
Liam Rosenior is undoubtedly a manager on the rise and could go right to the very top of the game based on his previous experiences.
Hull City deeply felt the loss of the young coach this term as they limped towards Championship survival, a far cry from their top six push under Rosenior’s guidance the season prior, while the 40-year-old has developed such a positive opening rapport with the Strasbourg faithful by helping the club achieve European football.
You wouldn’t imagine Rosenior would turn his back on the prospect of managing in a European competition for the first time in his career, while the Foxes’ impending 12-point deduction for PSR breaches makes it unlikely that they will find themselves in the top two come the end of the next season.
With too much mismanagement off the pitch and inevitable cuts to be made on it due to relegation from the Premier League, it seems a project that Rosenior could let pass him by, whereas he has so much to build on in Ligue 1 after a strong opening term.
