Speaking exclusively to FLW, Don Goodman has been discussing Bradford City's free agent signing of Max Power.
Bradford City have already got their summer transfer business started with the free agent signing of midfielder Max Power.
It was confirmed on 16 May that the Bantams had captured the signature of the former Wigan, Sunderland and Tranmere man on a two-year contract.
Now 31, he spent the 2024/25 season with Danish top division side Aarhus, where he would make 18 total appearances, scoring zero goals, and providing one assist.
"I am delighted to get the deal done so early in the summer and excited to get going," Power told the club website.
“I was watching how the season finished closely and was as excited as everybody else here when the goal went in in the 96th minute! I could not wait to come here.”
Speaking exclusively with Football League World, we asked Sky Sports pundit and former player, Don Goodman: 'Bradford City have completed the signing of midfielder Max Power. Thoughts? Do you think his experience could prove invaluable for the Bantams in League One?'
Goodman said: "Bradford City have gone early, and that's a really positive thing to do.
"In Max Power, they've got somebody that has won League One three times in his career. So, at the age of 31, he's still got plenty more to give.
"A wealth of experience; obviously hit the crossbar with Sunderland as well when he was there. So all in all, I can understand the signing from both parties, really.
"Bradford City, it was a big club in League Two - it's going to be one of the big clubs in League One as well."
Having secured their place in League One football for the first time since their 2018/19 relegation, Bradford City will surely be targeting players they can trust to perform at that level this summer.
Looking at Power's pedigree, it would suggest the experienced campaigner is certainly one of those players, having won League One on three occasions during his time at Wigan Athletic.
He's also tasted success at Wembley Stadium with Sunderland, as he was part of the Black Cats squad that lifted the EFL Trophy in the 2020/21 season.
However, despite racking up well over 400 appearances across the three tiers of the EFL during his career, Power's production at his most recent two stops will surely be cause for some concern over his ability to still contribute at a high level.
As previously mentioned, the central midfielder made just 18 total appearances forAarhus this past season, with no starts coming from his 14 league outings - per FotMob.
Prior to that, he spent the 2023/24 campaign with Saudi Arabian side Al Qadasiya, but only made 10 appearances there across the entire season, once again failing to score a single goal, whilst providing one assist - per Transfermarkt.
Therefore, Power certainly hasn't been enjoying regular game-time over the last two seasons, and with his production in terms of goal contributions extremely low, there is evidence to suggest he may well be past his best productive best.
However, on a free transfer, it's still a fairly risk-free move for Bradford City.
