Liverpool Transfers: Fee Revealed as Reds Push to Sign Marc Guehi

With Jeremie Frimpong already confirmed and the announcements of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez expected imminently, many saw a quiet couple of weeks as Liverpool set their sights on further targets. However, that’s certainly not going to be the case.

As Jarell Quansah closes in on a £34million move to Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool have seemingly already planned their next move in the market.

The Reds are now closing in on a deal to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with a fee understood to be in the region of £40million, as indicated by Anfield Index sources.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park last summer and was valued at around £70million off the back of an impressive EURO 2024 campaign with England. Liverpool, along with the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United, were interested in the defender.

Now, with just one year remaining on his deal at Crystal Palace, Guehi is closer to the exit door than ever.

Palace have already started talks to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP for £40million, suggesting that this deal could get wrapped up fairly quickly.

Liverpool are now set to push hard to finalise the deal and lead the race to sign Guehi in another genius piece of business by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.

Quansah Out, Guehi In

Not only have Liverpool received a significant fee for Quansah, who struggled to make into Arne Slot’s plans throughout the entirety of the 2024-25 season, but they’re also about to capture one of the best defenders in England for a low fee.

The Reds would replace Quansah with Guehi for just a £6m net fee, with the potential arrival expected to battle with Ibrahima Konate for a slot alongside Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of the defence.

Konate himself only has one year remaining on his Liverpool contract, so it’ll be interesting to see if this decision has any impact on his future plans.
