Moments of tension this morning in Pietralata, where preliminary operations are underway for the archaeological excavations related to the project for the new Roma stadium.
A van with materials for fencing the construction site area arrived on site, but the activity immediately clashed with the presence of around fifty protesters from the civic coordination group “Yes to the park, yes to the hospital, No to the stadium”.
The protesters prevented the passage of trucks carrying additional fencing, forcing the police to intervene to create a gap and guarantee access to the vehicles, reports Alessio Di Francesco.
The situation quickly became delicate, with the Police present with two vans in an attempt to contain the blockade.
In light of the tensions, Roma representatives present on site communicated to the police that, for today, it is preferable to suspend operations, pending new developments. Consultations are currently underway to evaluate the next steps.
