Defender Benjamin Pavard is still struggling to find his best form, but retains the full faith of coach Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

For the second international break in a row, Inter defender Pavard is not in the France squad.

The 28-year-old had been part of Les Bleus’ squad at the Euros over the summer. However, he did not feature a single minute at that tournament.

And that was a sign of things to come as far as France coach Didier Dieschamps’s intentions for Pavard.

The 29-year-old had been a regular starter for France for years. He started throughout the 2018 World Cup which France won.

But Deschamps evidently now prefers other options.

Benjamin Pavard Struggling For Form – But Still Has Trust Of Inzaghi At Inter

At Inter, it’s a bit different for Pavard.

It’s not like the national team where there is a wealth of options for the coach to select from.

Pavard is the player who Inter spent big money to bring in as the first-choice option on the right of their back three.

And the former Bayern Munich defender has just about held down that spot this season.

Yann Bisseck has also started a few matches. The German’s growth in form has certainly given Pavard some formidable competition.

But it is the Frenchman who remains first-choice.

And according to the Corriere, Inter coach Inzaghi still has no doubts about Pavard. The coach is confident that the 29-year-old’s quality will shine through sooner or later.

With France, Pavard’s less-than-convincing start to the season has led Deschamps to move on. At least for the time being.

But Inzaghi will be patient in waiting for Pavard to finally get back to his best.

The Inter coach continues to see Pavard as the perfect player for his system.
