A now-former member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has this week provided an insight into the role played by teammate Dani Olmo in his decision to depart.

The player in question? Sergi Domínguez.

Youngster Domínguez brought an official close to his five-year stint on the books of Barcelona early last week.

Aware that opportunities at senior level would be limited once more this coming season, the 20-year-old made the call to seek out a new challenge.

When all was said and done, Domínguez decided on Croatian heavyweights Dinamo Zagreb as his landing spot.

And as alluded to above, this week, the stopper has opened up on the role played by a current member of Hansi Flick’s squad in his call to head to Croatia.

Speaking during an interview with Jijantes, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Domínguez confirmed that Dani Olmo – formerly of Dinamo – afforded him the ‘final push’ to take the next step in his fledgling career:

“I knew I was going to go on loan or transfer, I had accepted it. Dinamo Zagreb’s offer won me over. I thought nothing better was going to come my way, I was clear about it. Before deciding, I asked Dani Olmo for his opinion, and he gave me the final push to make the decision.”
