Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is ready to become a key player for Inter Milan once again under Cristian Chivu.
This is the view of Italian outlet FCInterNews. They note how the 31-year-old is back in the fold after a summer of transfer drama.
It was certainly an eventful summer for Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
For several weeks, the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder was the subject of constant transfer speculation.
At times, it seemed almost inevitable that Calhanoglu would end up joining Galatasaray.
In the meantime, though, the transfer rumours surrounding Calhanoglu clearly made some waves within the Inter squad.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez all but called Calhanoglu out.
Speaking frankly after Inter’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense, the Argentine implored “whoever wants to leave, leave.”
Then, the following day Calhanoglu responded to Martinez’s comments with a social media post of his own. He not-so-subtly commented that “respect is a two-way street.”
However, after all of that, Calhanoglu stayed at Inter after all.

Calhanoglu’s staying has raised some significant questions at Inter.
The 31-year-old had really found his perfect role playing under former Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.
However, there are doubts about whether Calhanoglu will fit in as well in the playing system of new Inter coach Cristian Chivu.
However, tomorrow the Turk will make his first start of the season after missing Inter’s opener against Torino through suspension.
And this will be a chance for Calhanoglu to prove that he still has an important role to play.
