Nat Seaton:

‘A game that we should have won and not just because of the saved penalty…

We couldn’t translate our dominance into a win.

The final ball again a disappointment and when we did carve out chances our finishing was poor.

I have been to Goodison Park many times and have left many times having lost, so going home with a point is a small win, but a very small one in the circumstances.’

Mark Jankowski:

‘Any point away from home in the Premier League is a good point but this really feels like 2 points dropped.

I was expecting a tough battle but what unfolded was utterly one-sided, save for an early disallowed goal from Doucoure.

Anthony Gordon continues to look like the emotion of returning to Goodison gets to him.

Despite playing well in the middle of the pitch his composure deserted him in front of goal.

Still, we came away with a clean sheet and have only lost once this season, so there are positives to be had!’

GToon:

‘If you could win 0-0 then that was it.

How we didn’t beat them is beyond me.

Gutted for AG10 as he should have scored at least one.

Trying too hard probably.

However, we didn’t lose, we played very well and move up the table.

My only complaint about that game was the way the ref allowed their midfielders 8 and 16 to kick us all day long without a card.

We miss Isak don’t we.’

David Punton:

‘Two points dropped as United pay the penalty on our last ever visit to this famous old ground.

The returning Anthony Gordon had the chance from 12 yards but he was denied by that Mackem and the golden opportunity was gone.

The final ball was poor today and we looked like a side missing Isak and Wilson.

Still, a point away from home it is.

We haven’t been beaten and it’s a clean sheet. On we go.

A vast improvement on Fulham but we just didn’t do enough to deserve a win.

At least we didn’t lose to them as we have done all too often.’

‘I live in the South West and had literally met one Everton fan in my entire life (massive club).

I am on a stag do where I only know the stag and somehow from 11 attendees, two of them are Everton fans.

At least we didn’t lose but we really should have won.

For me Gordon shouldn’t have taken the pen.

His ex clubmate and current international teammate. I just felt like Pickford was going to win that battle.

Never mind, at least I can enjoy the rest of the stag without two gloating Toffees.’

Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey:

‘Well, that’s two points dropped as opposed to a point gained.

It’s so frustrating because it was a really good performance, but having no end product together with Gordon’s profligacy, has cost us dearly.

I wasn’t confident when Anthony stepped up to take the penalty, despite him being ice cool from 12 yards against Man City last week. My unease was well founded and an awful penalty ensued, meaning we missed a gilt-edged chance to get in front.

Second half, Gordon missing another great opportunity one on one with the England keeper after a splendid through ball from Miggy.

There were some great performances all over the park but a special mention for Nick Pope for that save from Calvert Lewin late on.’

Simon Ritter:

‘One point more than we got against this Neanderthal team last season but it should have been three.

A referee who waited until the 40th minute to book one of their hackers (he had plenty of choice) didn’t help but if you don’t take you chances you don’t deserve to win.

Joelinton was immense. He looks slimmer and quicker than at any time in his Newcastle United career, with no loss of power.

We were careless in possession, especially in the first half.

Had Gordon, who worked tirelessly again, been calmer with the penalty, Everton would have had to throw more men forward and we might have had an easier game.

Barnes again disappointed; he’s likely to be a supersub if he cannot make more of an impact from the off, once we have a fit centre-forward.’

The Armchair Fan:

‘Was optimistic going into this one.

Having one off the line and missing a penalty means its two points dropped but a decent performance.

Toon were definitely the better team over the ninety minutes.’
