Eveliina Summanen: “It will be exciting to be back together” | OneFootball

Eveliina Summanen is aiming for another season of progress and development as preparations for the new campaign kick-off this month.

Although the new Barclays Women’s Super League season is still over two months away, pre-season is just around the corner and the Finland international is looking to build on an impressive campaign in Robert Vilahamn’s maiden campaign.

The 26-year-old, who made 26 appearances last term, including 20 in the WSL as we finished sixth in the table, has enjoyed a well-deserved break in the off-season, returning back home to Finland before a trip to Stockholm, Sweden, with a number of the players from the squad.

Eveliina will be part of the upcoming international break this month, after being named in Finland’s national team squad, but is looking forward to getting back with the squad after that.

“It has been good, we obviously had the international break after the last game of the season but, after that, I took a little bit of downtime and had a trip with some of the girls in Stockholm,” Eveliina said. “I just went home, took it easy, relaxed and I really enjoyed going back to Finland and doing nothing.

“We of course have another international window before we get to see everyone once again but, to be honest, I haven’t really thought about it too much yet, however, when that time comes then it will be exciting to be back together and I’m looking forward to that day.”

Asked about looking ahead to the new campaign, she added: “It will be nice during pre-season to see how we come together but, obviously, our goal will be higher than last season, becoming better in different areas, on and off the pitch, and as a group. We will look to aim higher than before.”
