Lazio try to secure top spot in the Europa League with a difficult trip to Francesco Farioli’s Ajax, starting Pedro and Taty Castellanos upfront.

It kicks off at the Amsterdam ArenA at 20.00 GMT.

The Aquile had won all their Europa League matches until a controversial 0-0 draw with Ludogorets, in which they were denied a clear penalty even after the VAR review.

Their recent form is spectacular domestically too, winning nine of the last 12 in Serie A, including Sunday’s 1-0 away to leaders Napoli, and knocking Antonio Conte’s side out of the Coppa Italia too.

Squad rotation is inevitable ahead of Monday night’s Serie A showdown with Inter, but as Castellanos is suspended for that fixture, he starts here tonight.

Alessio Romagnoli and Matias Vecino are injured, but Samuel Gigot and Patric step in with veteran Pedro.

Lazio are without their supporters in Amsterdam after a ban from the local authorities over security fears.

If they win here, then Lazio are guaranteed a top eight finish and direct access to the Europa League Round of 16.

Ajax are sixth in the table on 10 points under Italian coach Farioli.

The hosts have Owen Wijndal suspended, plus Davy Klaassen, Sivert Mannsverk, Amourricho Van Axel-Dongen, Gaston Avila and ex-Roma midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic out of action.

The good news is the return of Devyne Rensch, while Mika Godts and veteran Jordan Henderson are also available once more.

Juventus-owned defender Daniele Rugani is on the bench.

It is the first ever competitive meeting between these two clubs.
