Keen to capitalise on the forward’s exile at Old Trafford, AC Milan are first in the queue to try and hash out a deal for Marcus Rashford.

Yesterday marked a full month since the forward last featured in a competitive match, with Sunday’s triumph over Arsenal extending a seven-game streak that he’s had to watch on either from home or the sidelines.

After the tie, Ruben Amorim, who’s kept relatively tight-lipped on his continued decision to omit Rashford from his squad, was pressed on whether the No.10 had played his final game for United. He told reporters: I don’t know. We will see.

“He is a player for Manchester United. He loves this club, but I have to make choices. It is what it is.”

Despite his recently stagnant form, the 27-year-old has attracted interest from a host of potential suitors across Europe – including in the Premier League after Tottenham Hotspur held ‘informal talks’ over a prospective loan.

Rashford could seal Milan move by the end of the week

Milan, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have all formed a transfer race for Rashford – hailed as ‘unstoppable’ by ex-manager Erik ten Hag – this month, though only the San Siro-based outfit have taken the formal steps required to get an agreement over the line.

Rashford’s agent – and brother – Dwaine Maynard flew to Italy last week to hold talks with the eighth-placed Serie A side, and trusted reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claims there has been a meeting scheduled on Wednesday for all parties to try and materialise the player’s mid-season switch.

As well as the Carrington graduate, Milan had also been alerted to Kyle Walker’s availability following Pep Guardiola’s admission that the defender had asked to ply his trade away from the Etihad. However, they only have room for one more English player in their squad and have opted to prioritise Rashford over his compatriot this month.
