Manchester City and Norway international striker Erling Haaland has announced he is expecting his first child, just moments after making history for his country.

The 24-year-old became Norway’s new all-time leading goalscorer on Thursday night by recording a further two goals as part of a 3-0 win over Slovenia in UEFA Nations League action, taking his overall tally to 34 goals in 36 appearances.

In the process, Erling Haaland not only equalled the existing record, but went on to overtake Jørgen Juve’s long-standing tally of 33 goals scored in a Norway national shirt across 45 appearances set between 1928 and 1937.

Whilst the remarkable achievement on the pitch will no doubt create its own headlines as Haaland continues to demolish landmarks at both club and international level, it is events off the pitch that will likely generate conversation and best wishes from across the globe.

Upon breaking the record for the most goals scored for the Norway national team, Erling Haaland dropped a bombshell announcement on his social media channels revealing the news that he and his partner, Isabel Haugseng Johansen are now expecting their first child.

Accompanying a photo of the match ball from Thursday night’s goalscoring affair tucked inside his shirt and his thumb in his mouth, a simple baby emoji and ‘soon’ was released across his social media generating an outpouring of support and love from those in football.

Haaland and Haugseng Johansen are understood to have first met one during their time at Bryne’s youth academy in Norway, and have known each other ever since.

A report from British tabloid newspaper The Sun previously revealed that the pair have been friends for more than a decade, but began to date when Erling Haaland took his career over to Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund.

Whilst their relationship was largely kept under wraps for some time, they have been spotted together on multiple occasions, and most notably at Manchester city centre restaurants and on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium and Ataturk Olympic Stadium celebrating trophy successes.

Despite Erling Haaland holding a staggering number of social media followers across channels, with his Instagram account alone boasting over 34 million, Haugseng Johansen does not have a public profile.

Most of her moments with the Manchester City striker and at his games have largely been captured by the paparazzi, with her also remaining absent from his social media channels.
