Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has taken another crucial step in his quest to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The 25-year-old has already expressed his desire to join AC Milan, and Italian news outlet Gazzetta has revealed that the Brazilian international has agreed personal terms with the Serie A giants.

Emerson has reportedly agreed a five-year contract and would pocket around £2.5 million per year at the San Siro Stadium.

His move to Milan has been in the pipeline for the past couple of weeks, but he is edging closer to completing a summer exit.

All that remains is for Tottenham and Milan to agree on a transfer fee and structure that suits all parties, and both clubs remain locked in negotiations.

Tottenham are demanding at least £21m to sell Emerson, but Milan are hoping to knock their asking price down to around £17m plus performance-related add-ons.

There isn’t a significant gulf between both clubs, so an agreement is expected to be reached in the coming days.

Emerson will headline a massive summer clear-out

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to reshape his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, paving the way for a number of players to leave the club this summer.

Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, and Joe Rodon have all left the club, but several other players are also facing uncertain futures.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has one year left on his contract and is attracting interest from clubs abroad, while Sergio Reguilon, Bryan Gil, Djed Spence, Giovani Lo Celso, Manor Solomon, and Richarlison could all leave the club.

Tottenham have already signed Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, but they’re expected to bolster Postecoglou’s squad further over the next two months.

Freeing up space in their bloated squad and the wage bill is paramount before they can add more recruits to the team, and Emerson could be the next player heading for the exit.
