Tottenham Hotspur host Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday night. SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller discussed the Bundesliga club’s personnel situation and tomorrow’s clash.
“We’re extremely excited about this game,” Toppmöller said at Wednesday’s press conference. “Its an absolute highlight for all of us. Both teams are well-deserved to be in the quarterfinals. It will be a thrilling duel, and of course we want to prevail.”
Kevin Trapp hasn’t played for Eintracht since their Bundesliga win against Union Berlin on March 9, but has travelled to London. As of now, it’s unclear as to whether the German or Kauã Santos will start in goal for the Hessen club.
“Trapp is still training individually,” said Toppmöller. “However, he flew with the team today. It’s important that he’s with the team because he’s the captain.”
Toppmöller also offered an update on Can Uzun and Elye Wahi.
“Uzun had two infections, but he was able to return to training now and has trained well,” added Toppmöller. “Elye Wahi started training last week. He’s also an option for tomorrow. He’s back and has been training with a very good intensity. We’re happy to have him back.”
