With Tuta suspended and Robin Koch working his way back following a shoulder injury, Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller faces a defensive selection headache for their Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
Tuta (25) picked up a yellow card in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat against Bayern Munich, the Brazilian’s fifth of the season, meaning he will be suspended for Saturday’s Topspiel. Koch (28) has also been sidelined since February 2 after tearing a ligament in his left should against Wolfsburg.
Koch only returned to training on Wednesday and faces a race against time to be fit.
Since the turn of the year, Toppmöller has opted for a back three consisting of Arthur Theate, Koch and Tuta. But in the absence of Koch, Nnamdi Collins has come in with Tuta switching to the central player of the three. Nathanial Brown has often played at left wing-back with Rasmus Kristensen on the right but against Leverkusen, Toppmöller could revert to a back-four.
BILD suggest that Theate would switch to a central position with Brown playing at left-back, and Collins and Kristensen completing the back four. But another option would be Aurèle Amenda, who is fit again after a syndesmosis operation, but the Swiss defender hasn’t played since mid-November.
