Eintracht Frankfurt have been named Germany’s digital champion for 2025 by the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ), as commissioned by DUP Unternehmer-Magazin.
Even before the 2025/26 season officially gets underway, Eintracht Frankfurt have claimed the first title of the campaign. Eintracht were clear winners at the top of the ranking of all 18 Bundesliga clubs, ahead of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen, with 90.8 points and the highest possible rating of “very good”.
In the ‘Digital Services and Solutions’ category, Eintracht achieved an almost perfect score of 98 out of 100 possible points. The award recognises the ongoing implementation of the club’s digital strategy that has been pursued since the founding of EintrachtTech GmbH in 2019.
A digital hub for fans and partners
The cornerstone of the digital strategy – and a constant presence in the Eintracht family – is the mainaqila app, which was assessed as a “nearly perfect club app”. As a platform and its own digital ecosystem, mainaqila brings together live content, ticketing, mobile payment and public transport integration with innovative services and interactive fan features. As such, it raises the bar for club apps, according to the German Institute for Service Quality. It is a digital marketplace that blends football, everyday life and regional offers, thereby creating exclusive added value for fans and partners. In addition to the app, Eintracht have set Bundesliga-wide standards in the areas of social media and fan engagement.
As a flagship venue in the Rhine-Main region, Deutsche Bank Park is also a prime example of the digitalisation of the tradition-steeped Hessian club. With state-of-the-art infrastructure including 5G, Wi-Fi and intelligent facility management, it is more than just a sports and meeting venue; it is an innovation hub. Here, solutions are developed that reach far beyond sport, from smart visitor management to energy efficiency and ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) technologies that can be used in other industries. These solutions are developed at the EintrachtTech GmbH digital centre, the Arena of IoT, which operates with the backing of the Hessian Ministry of Digital Affairs. The projects developed there range from autonomous driving to queue and parking management, as well as a self-service fan shop at Deutsche Bank Park. Projects successfully piloted there can also be implemented throughout the city and the region.
Innovation and inspiration
Furthermore, Eintracht Frankfurt have been forging new paths in eSports since 2018. The opening of the Eintracht Esports Academy in 2023 helped the club become a major player in the national gaming scene and a dominant presence in the ‘League of Legends’ and ‘Valorant’ games. In addition, events such as the technology, AI and blockchain conference ‘Block im Park’ provide a platform for discussion, innovation and long-term social matters. Eintracht also support gifted youngsters in the region through the ‘Talents of Tomorrow’ recruitment programme, and assist companies in finding skilled workers and leaders of the future.
Further motivation for the future
“We are proud that Eintracht Frankfurt’s digital strategy has achieved such an excellent result in comparison with other Bundesliga clubs, and has set a national benchmark,” said Timm Jäger, managing director of EintrachtTech GmbH. “At the same time, we’re aware that digitalisation is not an end in itself: our activities safeguard Eintracht Frankfurt’s technological independence and protect our fans’ data. All of Eintracht’s departments have done an extraordinary job and this award provides further motivation to think innovatively, to develop new business models and to future-proof our organisation.”
Milestone with responsibility Being recognised as Germany’s digital champion for 2025 is both a milestone and a responsibility for Eintracht Frankfurt. It underlines the club’s ambition to create digital added value for fans, partners and the Rhine-Main region as a whole, while continuing to establish Eintracht as a vibrant, innovative and responsible club both domestically and internationally.
The official award will be presented to Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 September at the ‘Made in Europe – Award for Excellence’ ceremony at Soho House in Berlin.
