Barcelona are currently navigating through a peculiar phase in their LaLiga campaign, having secured just one victory in their last six league matches.

However, despite this inconsistency, Hansi Flick’s squad has not lacked in generating scoring opportunities.

Most unfortunate team in Europe?

What’s particularly striking this season is their proficiency in hitting the woodwork, with Barça leading Europe’s top leagues in this statistic, having struck the post an impressive 18 times across all competitions.

This figure places them alongside Manchester City as the teams most unfortunate in terms of goalposts, reports Mundo Deportivo.

While Pep Guardiola’s side has created the highest number of chances in the Champions League (123), with 7 of those striking the post, Barcelona ranks twelfth in chance creation (89) but third in post hits (3) in the same competition.

In LaLiga, Barça’s dominance is undeniable; they lead in shot attempts with 223, significantly outpacing Villarreal, who are second with 186 shots.

The key players contributing to this metric are also the team’s leading scorers in the domestic league.

Robert Lewandowski has been particularly unlucky, hitting the post five times, the highest in LaLiga, while still managing to score 16 goals, making him the current ‘pichichi’.

Raphinha and Dani Olmo follow with three post hits each.

Despite many shots not finding the back of the net, Barcelona’s offensive efforts are evident in their goal tally, leading both LaLiga with 50 goals and the Champions League with 21.
