Paulo Dybala release a lengthy interview to Marca where he discussed Ranieri’s impact on the team as well as his own future.
Before tonight’s kick-off with Athletic Club Bilbao in the Europa League Round of 16, Dybala commented, “We will be aggressive, with the will to do well.”
“Playing at the Olimpico is important, it motivates us in every game. Athletic have already shown themselves to be strong in the group draw in September but I hope this time it will be different.”
“I am very curious to play at San Mamés in the return match. Everyone speaks highly of this stadium, because the fans really make themselves heard. In attack they are a fast and dangerous team but we are prepared.”
“The Williams brothers? I hope they don’t have their best day. We know them both, for their speed and dribbling skills. We studied them well, we will try to leave them the ball too much. We will follow Ranier’s instructions.”
“I love LaLiga, I watch it a lot on TV. This year it’s a very nice and competitive championship, and I would have always liked to play there, but I’ve been in Italy for many years now. Then you never know what can happen in the future.”
“The Olimpico? I would invite anyone who doesn’t know it to come. What you experience here can only be felt at Anfield and in a few other stadiums. The Stadio Olimpico is always full and even just hearing the anthem at the beginning gives you an incredible magic.”
“We are perhaps in our best moment of the season. At home we are stronger and against Athletic we must continue on this path. We are very confident, we want to take advantage of the home advantage.”
“Ranieri? The credit for this rebirth is largely due to the coach. When he arrived, it was a difficult period, with many internal and external changes in the team, everything was uncertain.”
“He reassured us by doing simple things, he knows Roma and the environment around the club very well and his extraordinary motivation makes the difference.”
“He gives me more freedom on the pitch. Sometimes of course he asks me for help to manage the result and help the defense but in attack I am free to occupy the opponent’s weak points.”
“The coach knows that sometimes I interpret the game differently and gives me the opportunity to do so. I feel good and this is fundamental for the end of the season.”
“My future? There is always so much news about me, I’m used to it now. Only I know the truth and that reassures me. I don’t think about my future right now.”
“Are Roma favored to win the Europa League? I would like to say yes. I don’t know if we are the absolute favorites but I know that we can have our say until the end. The match against Athletic will tell us if we are favorites or not.”
“Roma has only won three scudetti in history because Italian football is always very difficult and balanced, as can be seen also in this season. Winning the scudetto is difficult but not impossible and I would like to leave a good memory, a trophy, when I leave Roma. Today, however, we have Athletic to think about, in addition to the attempt to qualify for the next Champions League.”
