Although Joël Drommel is widely believed to be leaving PSV, a contract extension still hasn’t been ruled out, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.
PSV saw Walter Benítez leave on a free transfer this summer. The Argentinian is currently in talks with Crystal Palace about a transfer. The Eindhoven team have already signed Nick Olij as a replacement, while Daniël Peretz is also expected to join. However, Joël Drommel’s future remains completely open.
According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, there is a big chance that the PSV goalkeeper will leave this summer, and the arrival of Peretz could accelerate that. However, PSV wants to ‘time’ this right, because the arrival of the Israeli could also make Drommel seem redundant, which could reduce his value.
Drommel receiving a contract extension isn’t completely off the table either. His current deal runs until the summer of 2026, but with an extension, Drommel can go out on loan.
Due to Olij’s departure, Sparta are still looking for a goalkeeper. Drommel is said to be ‘on the list in Rotterdam’. According to the ED, the 28-year-old goalkeeper is ‘not throwing that option in the fire in advance’. However, Sparta are currently looking at several goalkeepers.
