Liam Kennedy, Conor Daly, and Michael Charlton, all from the Under-16 squad, have signed new contracts that will keep them at Celtic as they continue their development with the club.

Midfielder Conor Daly has featured three times for Scotland’s U15 team and has also earned a call-up to the U16 squad, while Michael Charlton – who joined Celtic at just five years old – has now been handed a professional contract in recognition of his progress last season.

Of the trio, Liam Kennedy appears to be the most advanced in his development, with his contract announcement noting that he has been steadily climbing through the club’s youth system.

At only 16, the midfielder has already stepped up to make his Celtic B debut under Stephen McManus [who spoke with The Celtic Star last Thursday ahead of next month’s Adidas Cup trophy pre-season fixture against Newcastle, watch below], appearing off the bench in a 4-1 victory against Civil Service Strollers earlier this year.
The three youngsters could soon link up with recent signing Isaac English, a 17-year-old upcoming defender who sealed his transfer from Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton to Celtic yesterday on a three-year contract, with the fee reportedly around £50,000.
In an announcement on English’s arrival shared on Celtic’s official website, it read: “Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Isaac English from Greenock Morton on a three-year deal.”
“He helped the under-18s reach the final of the Club Academy Scotland cup, with his impressive performances eventually earning him a call-up to the Cappielow side’s first team.”
“English will join up with Celtic FC B team, where he will work and progress under manager and former Celtic captain, Stephen McManus.”
The very best of luck to the three Bhoys who we’d all love to see in the first team in a few years from now!
