Brown, Collins and Knauff all featured in the UEFA U21 European Championship final, which ended in disappointment for Germany following a 3-2 extra-time defeat by England.
Over 19,000 spectators at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava witnessed England race into an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott (5’) and Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson (25’).
Nevertheless, coach Antonio Di Salvo’s Germany’s side - with Nnamdi Collins and Nathaniel Brown once again in the starting XI – fought back and equalised at 2-2 via goals from Nelson Weiper (45’+1) and Paul Nebel (61’).
Ansgar Knauff was brought off the bench in the 73rd minute and was impressive down the right-hand side, but Elias Baum did not feature. Jonathan Rowe scored the winning goal for the Young Lions at the start of extra time (92’).
