Borussia Dortmund will sport their iconic black and yellow kit in the Bundesliga, but for the 2023/24 season, there’s a bit of a twist.

The club asked fans for their designs and opinions, leading to supporters deciding what the squad would wear next season.

Timo R. from Marl won the competition, with his kit featuring black accents, a silhouette of Signal Iduna Park and the coal structure “intends to remind us of the roots of the Ruhr region.”

The designer also admitted coming up with the eventual winning idea wasn’t particularly hard!

“A jersey should stand out and be remembered,” he said. “I read about the competition before lunch, then went for a walk with my dogs and thought about what makes a jersey for me.”

“I had an image in my head immediately and implemented it after the lunch break.”

Perhaps more clubs will catch on to this fan-led trend.
