Borussia Dortmund are ready to make a serious play to keep Julian Brandt at the club.
The creative midfielder has been in superb form this season and started in all of the team’s 10 consecutive wins to kick off 2023.
That run ended with the 2-0 Champions League defeat at Chelsea, which saw Brandt substituted injured after just five minutes. The midfielder subsequently missed Saturday’s 2-2 Revierderby draw with Schalke.
As if it wasn’t already clear enough, those results underlined Brandt’s importance to the side.
With his contract expiring in 2024, the German has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent days, with Arsenal and Tottenham both reportedly interested, but SportBILD now report that Dortmund are ready to offer him a big new contract to remain with the club.
The German outlet claim the club have made an appointment with Brandt’s representatives for an opening sit down talk and are eager to find an agreement before the end of the season.
The reports adds that Dortmund are willing to offer a significant increase on the €7m-a-year salary Brandt currently earns and the 26-year-old is said to be entering talks with an open mind.
