Borussia Dortmund booked their place in the Club World Cup Round of 16 thanks to a first-half goal from Daniel Svensson, earning them a narrow 1-0 win over Ulsan Hyundai on Wednesday.
In a match played out in front of large swathes of empty seats at Bank of America Stadium, it was Jobe Bellingham who marked a personal milestone, registering his first assist in Dortmund colours by setting up Svensson to slot home in the 36th minute.
Dortmund only needed a draw to guarantee a spot in the knockout rounds, but results elsewhere worked in their favour. A goalless stalemate between Fluminense and Mamelodi Sundowns meant the German side topped Group F.
Fluminense progressed as runners-up, while Sundowns, despite some promising displays, missed out and finished third.
Next up for Dortmund is a last-16 clash against the second-placed team in Group E, with Inter Milan, River Plate and Monterrey all still in the mix to face them.
