Football League World's Blackburn Rovers fan pundit has called for the Venky's to sell the Championship club
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Blackburn Rovers are currently in the race for a Championship play-off spot, but their top six credentials have taken a serious dent, as manager John Eustace has left Ewood Park to join relegation-threatened Derby County.
Rovers released a statement indicating that they were disappointed by Eustace's request to hold discussions with the Rams at an important stage in the season, and on Thursday morning he was confirmed to have returned to the club he once played for.
However, BBC Sport's Simon Stone responded to Rovers' statement, and revealed that the manager's view is different to that of the club's, as the 45-year-old was unconvinced about his backing from the club hierarchy.
Amid such reports that Eustace did not feel backed by the Venky's, Football League World asked our Rovers fan pundit, Simon Middlehurst, if the owners should be looking to sell the club or not.
Simon told FLW: "There is a lot of unrest now with Blackburn fans wanting (the) Venky's to sell.
"It has been like this now for 14 years, they never seem to learn from their mistakes, it's just one thing after another.
"We've gone through a number of CEOs as well.
"The latest one, Steve Wagott (is) another one.
"Blackburn fans are wanting him to leave, if you look at his history with Charlton Athletic and Coventry, and what he did there, he's not exactly a well thought of person within football, and especially (at) Blackburn.
"But now is the time for the Venky's to do the right thing, and sell the club.
"They've not been at a Blackburn game for nearly 10 years now, the last time they were there, obviously there was a lot of unrest between fans, and they've never been back since.
"They've just disappeared, there's obviously a lot of reports coming out of India due to court cases that they're going through at the minute.
"I think now is the time for them to do the right thing, put the club up for sale, pass it on to someone who cares about the club, who cares about the fans and wants the club to succeed, and go forward.
"(The) Venky's just haven't done that, and do not continue to seem to do it."
It is no surprise that FLW's Rovers fan pundit Simon has called for the Venky's to sell the club, and end their reign at Ewood Park.
The Indian poultry giants bought the Lancashire club in November 2010, and they subsequently oversaw their relegation to the Championship in 2012, and they have not been able to manifest their initial ambitious Premier League plans.
Since suffering relegation to the second tier nearly 13 years ago, Rovers have never finished in a Championship play-off spot, and even faced the drop to League One back in 2017.
The Ewood Park faithful were thankful that their club achieved the feat of automatic promotion from the third tier in 2018, but they will be bitterly disappointed that they are still yet to land a top-six spot in the second tier.
Under the stewardship of Eustace, finishing in the play-offs felt like a real possibility for Rovers, despite the departure of last season's Championship golden boot winner Sammie Szmodics last summer.
But Eustace is now set to leave the Lancashire outfit, and is seemingly unhappy with the Venky's, which may be enough to see Rovers' top-six credentials slip through their fingers.
Meanwhile, as alluded to by Simon, Blackburn's owners have also found themselves battling with the Indian Ministry of Finance in court cases that keep being pushed back, which again cannot be helping whatsoever when it comes to backing managers - or lack of it.
Ultimately, the situation will come to a head sooner rather than later, but Eustace leaving for Derby isn't a good look for anyone - most of all the Venky's.
