Kaiserslautern, Fürth and Karlsruhe are among the latest teams to make it into the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

RSV Eintracht 1947 0-7 1. FC Kaiserslautern

It’s not quite to the level of their heaviest Pokal win — the 15-0 win in FC Schönberg 95 two decades ago still takes some beating – but Kaiserslautern recorded one of the biggest scorelines of the first round this season.

The fifth-tier team were down by four goals at the half-time break. Fresh from their combative victory over Schalke in 2. Bundesliga, Kaiserslautern had seven different scorers in an impressive team display. Marlon Ritter, who scored the winner against Schalke, was the “Man of the Match” with three direct goal involvements.

ZFC Meuselwitz 0-5 Karlsruher SC

Karlsruhe started the 2. Bundesliga season with four points from two matches, and they beat their fourth-tier opponent with ease in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Veteran striker Fabian Schleusener opened the floodgates right from the kickoff, and it was 5-0 to the visitors before the hour mark.

The 33-year-old striker, who is closing on 150 career goals, netted a first-half brace, while Lilian Egloff continues his decent start to the season with a goal and an assist to his name.

Blau-Weiß Lohne 0-2 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

In contrast, the Regionalliga Nord side Lohne fared better than RSV Eintracht and Meuselwitz. However, they finished their tie with nine players, like BFC Dynamo (vs. Bochum) and Grossaspach (vs. Leverkusen) did in the past two days.

Fürth’s goals scored by new signings in the second-half. Ex-Köln midfielder Mathias Olesen broke the deadlock before a debut goal for center-back Noah König sealed the win in the 86th minute.
