A long list of clubs are interested in Josh Windass, as an exit from Sheffield Wednesday appears likely.
The 31-year-old has been linked to Sky Bet Championship newboys Wrexham for some time, but a new selection of admirers have been revealed.
Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star has reported that Championship trio Derby County, Norwich City and Coventry City are belived to be considering a move for Windass.
Interest also comes from an unlikely source, of an unnamed club in Germany, while the attacking midfielder's old club Rangers are also said to be keen.
Scottish giants Rangers are training at England national team camp St. George's Park at the same time that the Owls are, with the Glasgow-based side close to signing Wednesday prospect Djeidi Gassama on a long-term deal as well.
Assistant manager Henrik Pedersen has seen his contract extended, with the Dane involved in pre-season preparations.
Interest in the Hull-born playmaker, who is the son of Dean, comes as no shock. He has been linked to a move away before, with the Owls having rejected plenty of offers over recent years.
Windass had his deal extended, with that ensuring a price tag will be recovered should he leave Hillsborough this summer.
The Owls have had a turbulent time off the pitch this summer, with takeover talks not being resolved, increased pressure on owner Dejphon Chansiri, and the torrid missed payment of players.
Many members of the Wednesday squad were not paid for two months in succession, May and June, with that allowing some to tender their notices and leave the club.
The blue and white side of Sheffield are open to letting players go in order to lift some of the burden financially, according to the Sheffield Star. Key asset Gassama is expected to complete a deal to join Rangers, while Anthony Musaba is of interest to clubs including Turkey's Rizespor.
It would be no surprise to see Windass follow suit, with him being one of the major cash-cows at Hillsborough. The attacking force finished the season as the top goalscorer for Danny Rohl's side, as Wednesday finished in mid-table after flirting with an play-off challenge earlier in the campaign.
He has played 182 times for the Owls, scoring 53 goals and assisting 23 more across his spell since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2020.
The former Rangers man has become a mainstay at Hillsborough, and has become a true fan-favourite after netting the dramatic 123rd-minute winner against Barnsley in the League One play-off final back in 2023.
