We are in yet another transfer saga involving Chelsea, and it doesn’t look like we will get a conclusion just yet either.
Ah, another transfer saga, what fun (please note sarcasm). Fans love and hate transfer season, and sagas like this one is a prime reason why many hate it as much as they love it. They become obsessed and invested in these transfer stories, and they are so up and down it sends emotions flying.
We expected Xavi Simons to Chelsea to be pretty much done by now, and one journalist yesterday was claiming that it now was a done deal! Everyone was reporting that it was very advanced last week and very close to happening.
But as ever in these stories and situations, it looks like goalposts have been moved in negotiations and Chelsea appear to now want to hold firm on the fee and will not pay what RB Leipzig want.
No, and in fact, Fabrizio Romano has some positive news on it overall despite the fact he’s also saying Chelsea and Leipzig are apart on the fee.

Speaking on his latest YouTube video last night, Romano says:
“First step for Chelsea, really important to sell and offload some players. Guiu has gone on loan, Broja will go, more players like Sterling, Felix has left. Jackson is one to watch. Nkunku is going to go. Several situations to clarify! They have many players upfront, they want Xavi Simons, advance talks. Before closing the deal they want to make sure they complete some outgoings but its not something in real danger at this point.”
Romano continued:
“The price tag is an important point, Leipzig keep asking for important money, but Chelsea want to pay less.
“The deal remains on!
“Simons to Chelsea now has a 75% chance of happening.
“The conversation is going very well between Chelsea and Leipzig for Simons.”
