David De Gea is back on familiar territory ahead of Fiorentina’s friendly against Manchester United and had a touching reunion with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Viola will be in action at Old Trafford for a pre-season test match on Saturday, as Stefano Pioli and his players continue preparations for the new campaign.

It is without doubt a special occasion for the goalkeeper, who wore the Manchester United jersey from 2011 until his contract was allowed to expire in 2023.

He decided to take a Sabbatical after that to wait for the right opportunity, which presented itself in the form of Fiorentina.

De Gea had 80 appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson at the very start of his Manchester United career from 2011 to 2013.

That was a drop in the ocean compared to his total 545 games for the club, but it was still a lovely reunion this evening between the goalkeeper and his old boss.
