Manchester United tried to sign Hugo Ekitike, but could not convince him about a switch to Old Trafford.

Per transfer expert David Ornstein, “Man United made a push for him last week, but he had already committed to Liverpool.”

The Slovenian is a talented striker, but there are doubts about whether he can handle the step up to a club like Manchester United.

Only 13 of his 21 goals last season came in the league.

Fans fear he could go down the same route as Rasmus Hojlund, a talented striker, who arrived with much hype and for big money despite never clearing the 20-league goal bar, only to disappoint.

Man United need an established striker capable of handling the pressure of leading the line for a club like the Old Trafford outfit.

A move for Viktor Gyokeres should have been on the cards, but he has his heart set on a transfer to Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that United have been offered the chance by intermediaries close to Sporting CP to bid for the Swede.
