Former Celtic winger Ben Doak is wanted for a controversial move by Everton. The Scotland Internationalist is being eyed by David Moyes in a controversial switch that could see the attacker cross the Merseyside divide.
As reported by Sky Sports, Moyes is interested in bringing the 19-year-old from Liverpool in a deal that has been reported as being worth £30m.
Doak is reportedly wanted by FA Cup Winners Crystal Palace, who also rate the standout winger highly. It was clear from his performance in the Nations League against Poland that Doak is destined for a top team. Arne Slot perhaps doesn’t have the same plan as Jurgen Klopp had and could sanction a deal. Klopp handed the player ten appearances but Slot sanctioned a loan to Middlesbrough.
The last player to have played for both Liverpool and Everton was Sander Westerveld. The Dutch goalkeeper was part of Liverpool’s treble-winning side in 2001 and later joined Everton on a short-term loan in 2006, where he made two Premier League appearances. However, the last direct transfer between Liverpool and Everton occurred in January 2002, when Portuguese defender Abel Xavier moved from Everton to Liverpool for a fee of £800,000.
Moyes is reportedly considering another former Celtic player as he looks to take The Toffees into a new period of success at their new stadium. Brighton’s Matt O’Riley has been linked with a move just under a year after he switched Glasgow for the Premier League.
