The Spanish media has been flooded with reports of Real Madrid’s pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent weeks and rightfully so given how the club has struggled in the right-back department this season.
Yet, it is clear as daylight that Los Blancos’ deficiency in the defensive position all stems from the injury Dani Carvajal suffered early in the season.
The veteran, despite his age, has been an ever-reliable asset for Real Madrid in the right-back department over the years and is also a mainstay for the Spanish national team. His return, to a large extent, will cover the defensive void the team is battling.
Speaking to the media in a recent event, the veteran right-back opened up on his injury, recovery status and a few more topics as he grows closer to a return to the field.
He began by reliving the horrific moment when he fell to his injury by overextending his knee and the strength he had in that difficult moment, saying,
“From the moment I got injured and went to the locker room my head clicked, I was the one who encouraged my teammates, even my wife.”

He then spoke on the route back from his blow, how it has been a long time without doing what he loves and how he was longing for a return to the field.
“5 and a half months have passed since the operation, I have already put on my boots and we are accumulating sessions on the field to try to be back as soon as possible, but with guarantees of arriving well.”
Finally, Carvajal was asked about the most special night he has lived as a Real Madrid player and his answer was at the tip of his tongue with no hesitation.
“The most special night I’ve ever lived was against Manchester City. A unique feeling, to tie the game with 6 minutes of added and the atmosphere that was created.”
“We looked at each other’s faces and looked like gladiators in the Colosseum,” he added on the mentality of the team on that special night.
