Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has on Wednesday evening joined a host of high-profile figures from across the football world, in wishing Raphaël Varane the best in his retirement.
The name of defender Varane has of course dominated the headlines over the course of the day to date.
This comes, for those who may have missed it, after the Frenchman announced the decision to pull the curtain on his legendary playing career.
After suffering a serious knee injury whilst lining out for Como – whom he joined during the summer – last month, the iconic stopper made official his call to hang up his boots through a statement on the Italian outfit’s social media channels this morning:
Messages of support and well-wishes, in turn, have since poured in for a player who remains just 31 years of age.
And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, such messages were added to by arguably Varane’s most high-profile teammate ever.
After the pair shared the pitch at both Real Madrid and Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo took to the comments section of Varane’s latest Instagram post, to reply:
‘A great career and a football legend! Congratulations for everything brother hope to see you soon.’
