‘Considerable’ – Man Utd fans left sweating as Ornstein delivers worrying Mbeumo update | OneFootball

David Ornstein reveals that Manchester United still have some distance to cover before reaching an agreement with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils had long identified the Cameroonian as their desired second major summer signing after landing Matheus Cunha in June. Likewise, Mbeumo turned down all other tracks, including a reunion with Thomas Frank at Tottenham, in favour of a move to Old Trafford.

But while United and the player had long reached an agreement over personal terms, MUFC have been trying to negotiate a deal with Brentford for over a month now, and have yet to reach the finish line.

INEOS have thus far launched at least a couple of concrete offers that were turned down by the bees.

Man Utd & Brentford still negotiating Bryan Mbeumo deal

In recent days, sources have suggested that Man Utd have finally made a major breakthrough in their talks with Brentford, adding that Mbeumo could be on the verge of finalising his much-anticipated transfer to Carrington.

Nevertheless, Ornstein believes that these reports remain premature, as the two parties have yet to find an agreement.

In fact, the journalist notes, in his latest update for The Athletic, that the clubs are still separated by a ‘considerable’ gap in their respective valuations for the winger.

Man United yet to make progress on Mbeumo front

Ornstein elaborates by saying that Man Utd are still several million pounds below Brentford’s asking price. He also adds that the two parties haven’t made any significant progress in recent weeks.

Hence, the picture depicted by the British journalist hints at a potential deadlock. So it remains to be seen if one of the two clubs will eventually budge, or will negotiations break down entirely.

One would imagine that the next few days should be decisive, as INEOS have already spent too much time on the Mbeumo front, and have other departments to address this summer, including the centre-forward role and the middle of the park.
