Confirmed United XI vs Grimsby Town: Sesko, Mainoo in starting XI | OneFootball

Benjamin Sesko makes his first start for Manchester United this evening as they face League Two side Grimsby Town in Cleethorpes.

As they are not involved in European football, the Red Devils have to join the League Cup a round earlier, but this will give Ruben Amorim’s squad fring players an opportunity to gain valuable minutes.

Defence

Andre Onana plays in nets for the first time since the 2024/25 season.

The back three is also completely changed, with Tyler Fredricson, Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven replacing Yoro, De Ligt and Shaw.

Wing Backs and Midfield

Amad and Patrick Dorgu keep their places, but the Ivorian will play higher up the pitch, with Diogo Dalot coming in at wing back.

Bruno Fernandes take a rare day off, and is replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.

Manu Ugarte replaces Casemiro.

Forwards

Matheus Cunha is the third and final star to keep his place from the weekend. He is joined in attack by Sesko and Amad.

On the bench are Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Matthijs de Ligt, Diego Leon, Casemiro, Fernandes, Mason Mount, Bryan Mbeumo and Josh Zirkzee.

Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw are rested completely while Nouss Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez are still unavailable.

Fans will be pleased to see Mainoo starting amid rumours of a potential departure from the club.

Kick off at Blundell Park is at 8pm.
