Manchester City have the opportunity to move back to the top of the Premier League table with a win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium tonight.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been temporarily overtaken by their title challengers Arsenal in top spot, after Mikel Arteta’s side recovered from their 4-1 demolishing at the hands of City last week with a 3-1 win over struggling Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Manchester City took another step towards a third successive Premier League title themselves on Sunday afternoon, as goals from Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez secured a 1-2 win on the road at Fulham’s Craven Cottage.
Kevin De Bruyne was absent from that win after failing to make the travelling contingent due to an unknown injury problem sustained during the 4-1 win over Arsenal last week, and the Belgian is understood to have returned to a light level of training earlier this week.
Nathan Ake returned to full first-team training in a significant step forward towards full recovery from a hamstring problem sustained during the Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola still has an incredibly strong squad at his disposal ahead of the clash against West Ham on Wednesday night.
