Blackburn Rovers would have to pay a low compensation fee to Leyton Orient for their managerial target Richie Wellens, whose salary demands are within their reach, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
John Eustace has left Blackburn Rovers to join Derby County after they parted ways with Paul Warne.
Now the Ewood Park outfit are actively looking for Eustace’s replacement and they have former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil in their sights.
Blackburn also have a host of foreign managers on their shortlist, with Raphael Wicky, George Boateng and Aitor Karanka under consideration.
Leyton Orient boss Wellens has emerged as a potential candidate as he has impressed the Blackburn hierarchy with the job he has done with the League One outfit.
It has been claimed that Blackburn would have to pay a low compensation fee to Leyton Orient if they want to appoint Wellens.
The English tactician’s salary demands are also within Rovers’ reach and Wellens has vast experience coaching in the north west of England.
Blackburn are in the race for promotion and they want to bring in a quick replacement for Eustace to keep their promotion dream alive.
It has been suggested that they have sounded out the foreign managers on their list and they soon want to begin the interview process.
