‘Collectively, they are better than last season’ – Eric Roy gives his verdict on Mbappé-less PSG

It is four games and four wins for Paris Saint-Germain this season. The anticipated PSG drop-off, following Kylian Mbappé’s summer departure, has not yet taken form. Eric Roy’s Stade Brestois, who last season finished on the podium in Ligue 1, were the latest team to be dismantled by Les Parisiens. Post-match, he gave his verdict on this season’s version of PSG.

Last season, Brest went to the Parc des Princes and secured a 2-2 draw. However, whilst they had looked to hold on after taking an early lead through Romain Del Castillo’s spot-kick, they were quickly pegged back by Ousmane Dembélé, before a quick-fire double midway through the second half crushed Les Ty Zéfs’ hopes of securing any result.

‘PSG without Mbappé? They run a lot more’ – Roy

The victory takes PSG top. Luis Enrique’s side have now scored 16 goals in their first four games and they have conceded just three. For Roy, Les Parisiens are better than last season – an ominous sign given the ease with which they won the Ligue 1 title last time out.

“Collectively, they are a lot better than last season,” Roy told DAZN post-match. In his post-match press duties, he added, “I found that collectively, when they lost the ball, everyone made an effort; they were well-organised. It was less easy for us, compared to last year. PSG without Mbappé? They run a lot more,” said the Brest manager.
