Cole Palmer called Estevao Willian a “top player” ahead of the youngster’s transfer to Chelsea this summer.
The 18-year-old scored for Palmeiras against his soon-to-be new team in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals, which the Blues won 2-1 thanks to a strike from Palmer and a late own goal from Agustin Giay.
Estevao will join Chelsea after the tournament concludes following a £29.1m deal that was struck with the Brazilian club last summer.
Palmer swapped shirts with and tried to speak to the winger after the final whistle, although there was a language barrier.
“I just said we look forward to seeing you but he didn’t understand a word I said,” he revealed.
“But, yes, he’s a top player. Obviously, he’s only young as well. When he comes to England, people need to give him time to adapt to the culture, the language.
“He’s still only 18 or 19 but you can see he’s got amazing quality and we look forward to seeing him.”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is looking forward to Estevao’s impending arrival at Stamford Bridge following a “perfect night” for the west London outfit.
“You can see he is a huge talent, you can see is a fantastic player,” the Italian said. “The only thing now is when you come from South America or another part of the world to Europe you need to adapt.
“We are going to help him to adapt and first of all to enjoy football. We don’t have any doubt, as he is so good, that he is going to be an important player for Chelsea.”
The Italian added: “We’re very happy. It’s a fantastic day. The semi-finals of the Club World Cup – the best clubs in the world – and we are there.
“Probably for us it has been the perfect night because we won and Estevao scored, so it was very good for all of us.”
