Claudio Ranieri Offers Update on Roma Future After Genoa Triumph | OneFootball

Roma manager Claudio Ranieri addressed the media after Friday night’s comfortable 3-1 home triumph against Genoa. The Giallorossi delivered another emphatic performance at the Stadio Olimpico to climb to ninth in the Serie A standings amid a five-match unbeaten run.

Ranieri, who came out of retirement to help his beloved Roma overcome substantial struggles this season, dropped a hint about his future after the game. However, the gentleman he is, the 73-year-old, first thanked fans for coming to the Olimpico in numbers to support his side.

“It was tough, but we wanted to thank these 62,000 fans who came here on a Friday night to cheer us on,” the Roma icon told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by TMW. “I assumed it’d be 30,000 and it was double that. We must do everything for these people because they love us beyond every limit.

“When they protested, it was because extreme love makes them always want the maximum.“

Roma appointed Ranieri as a caretaker boss until the end of the season after sacking Ivan Juric in November. The veteran coach joked about his managerial future in Rome.

“Look, I don’t want to say anything. I already said I had retired and then here I am back again! Leave me alone! I had already decided a year ago that I wanted to quit. So I’ll quit in the future.“

The former Premier League winner with Leicester City has seemingly brought Roma back on the rails, with sixth-placed Fiorentina now only five points away.
