Corinthians may receive, in the coming days, the title of intangible heritage of the city of São Paulo. The proposal was presented by councilwoman Keit Lima (PSOL), who filed Bill 944/2025, seeking to grant the club symbolic recognition for its historical, cultural, and social relevance, in celebration of Timão’s 115th anniversary.

The goal of the bill is to value Corinthians as a cultural manifestation of the São Paulo capital, highlighting its impact on the lives of fans and on the very identity of the city. Unlike material possession, the title does not involve physical assets such as stadiums, gyms, pools, or the club’s social headquarters. Therefore, the process does not need to go through analysis by CONPRESP (Municipal Council for the Preservation of Historical, Cultural, and Environmental Heritage).

The project, filed on the 18th, is under review by the committees of the City Council and, if approved, will proceed to a plenary vote.

In her justification, the councilwoman highlights the historical and social role of Corinthians. She recalls that the club was the first in the city to field a Black player and cites the importance of the Corinthians Democracy, a movement that marked the fight for freedom and democracy during the military dictatorship period.

It’s worth noting that, in 2024, Corinthians also gained a spot in the Official Events Calendar of the City of São Paulo. November 8 was established in honor of the club’s women’s football and the female Corinthians fans, recognizing the leadership of the Brabas.

If approved, the title of intangible heritage will reinforce the cultural and historical significance of Corinthians, further consolidating the bond between the club and the city of São Paulo.
