Chelsea’s George asking price a huge problem for Roma | OneFootball

Having given up on Jadon Sancho, Roma are finding it very difficult to sign Tyrique George too, as Chelsea are reportedly asking for €30m plus add-ons and a big chunk of the sell-on fee.

The Giallorossi’s search for an attacking wide man to fit new coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s 3-4-3 tactics have hit numerous problems.

Sancho was the first choice, but after weeks of negotiations, he rebuffed their advances.

George far too expensive for Roma budget

They therefore turned to a player who shares the same agent, George, hoping that the connection with representative Emeka Obasi can ease the process.

However, Fabrizio Romano, BBC Sport and more all report today that Chelsea want €30m plus add-ons and a significant sell-on clause to part with the 19-year-old.

It is a huge sum for an untested player and Roma would not be prepared to pay that figure, instead asking for a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

George only made 26 competitive appearances for the Chelsea senior squad, contributing three goals and five assists.
