WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this morning.
The 21-year-old is a product of the Chelsea academy system and she successfully worked her way up to the fringes of the first team. Wardlaw was handed her senior debut by former Chelsea boss Emma Hayes in the 2019/2020 season. She featured in a Subway Women’s League Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur at Kingsmeadow.
Since making her Chelsea debut, Wardlaw has struggled for game time and has had to go out on loan to find minutes. The player spent the 2021/2022 season at Liverpool where she won the Barclays Women’s Championship title. Wardlaw returned to Liverpool the following season before turning out for Lewes during a short loan spell at The Dripping Pan.
Last season saw Wardlaw enjoy a productive loan spell north of the border with Glasgow City where she was given 28 league outings before she returned to the second tier of English football in the first half of this season with Sheffield United.
Wardlaw was recalled by Chelsea earlier this month and it has now been revealed that her time as a Blue is over. The player has joined Becky Langley’s ambitious Newcastle United side and she will be hoping to help the club reach the Barclays Women’s Super League in the coming years.
