Chelsea will try to sign Leicester star but Foxes have ace up sleeve

Chelsea Football Club have a knack of stealing away Premier League clubs' carefully developed star players and ruining or regressing the talent. We occasionally think of what the Blues did with Danny Drinkwater. A solid midfielder with decent vision and good passing range. Yet obviously Drinkwater carried much bagged and had many hidden problems. Nevertheless, the transfer was a waste of money and a wasted opportunity for the one-time Manchester United youth footballer. Don't get me started on Ben Chilwell. At least LCFC got paid!

There are, of course, Stamford Bridge success stories when travelling from Leicestershire as well. I don't really like to talk about this one - but here goes! N'golo Kante. It still hurts. He was the best defensive midfield operator I've seen with respect to intercepting, tracking and ball-winning. Certainly at Leicester City, anyway. Kante lifted the English top flight trophy again with the Blues. Not to mention winning the Champions League whilst a CFC athlete.

In between those two extreme categories lies the middle ground. At present, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could go either way. I'm not sure he would have been aware he'd be a rather unused squad man. Dewsbury-Hall has shone slightly on Fulham Road whilst featuring in the Europa Conference League. Nevertheless, he's in a precarious position now career-wise.

Wesley Fofana may still make the grade at this top six side, injuries permitting. Other switches have transpired from the two teams. Michael Golding was the latest to move to the King Power. Though Chels will more than likely try to sign another Leicester City star this summer. However, the Foxes may just have an ace up their sleeve.

Chelsea want Leicester City's Mads Hermansen

Enzo Maresca is expected to reignite interest in Hermansen soon. CFC are 'expected to return again in the offseason'. Yet Jakub Stolarczyk's ability has eased any potential blow:

"Enzo Maresca is already well aware of Hermansen’s qualities and Chelsea were linked with interest last summer. They are expected to return again. While their current number one Robert Sanchez ranks in the middle of the pack for his save rate this season, he’s made the most errors leading to goals of any player in the division. If Hermansen is sold in the summer, City would then need to decide if Stolarczyk will step up to be their number one or will continue as their number two. It’s a decision that may be dependent on the division that City are in, while it would also have a significant impact on how much they spend on what looks like being an overhaul between the sticks."Leicester Mercury
