Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking for a response from his Nottingham Forest players as their unbeaten start to the season ended last week at the City Ground to Fulham.

Due to Chelsea’s squad depth, they have heavily rotated for other competitions, contributing to an almost clean bill of health.

Forest also have no new absences to deal with, with long-term absentees Ibrahim Sangare and Danilo the only players unavailable.

Form

Chelsea: WWWWW

The Blues have found form under Enzo Maresca to defeat each of their last five opponents.

Renato Veiga and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall opened their Chelsea accounts against Gent on Thursday night, with Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku also on target in their 4-2 win.

It followed a win by the same scoreline in the Premier League last weekend, with talisman Cole Palmer scoring all four goals to see off Brighton.

Victories on their travels at Wolves, Bournemouth and West Ham are tangible evidence that Maresca could be the man to propel Chelsea back among Europe’s elite.

Nottingham Forest: DDWDL

A Raul Jimenez penalty put an end to Forest’s unbeaten start to the season last weekend with the Tricky Trees unable to conjure up an equaliser against Fulham.

Their victory at Anfield against top-of-the-table Liverpool is the pick of their early season results with Espirito Santo’s side the only team to prevent the Reds from winning this term.

Their away form will particularly please the Portuguese tactician, with a vital away win at Southampton and a hard-fought point against Brighton adding to that 1-0 triumph on Merseyside.

Last Meeting: Nottingham Forest 2-3 Chelsea, Premier League, 11th May 2024

Chelsea found themselves on the right side of an enthralling encounter at the City Ground when they last played Nottingham Forest.

At the time, the Blues were in the midst of a positive spell under Mauricio Pochettino and they took the lead inside the opening ten minutes.

Mykhailo Mudryk was teed up by an incisive, defence-splitting pass from Cole Palmer and the Ukrainian calmly slotted past Matz Sels.

But the hosts completely turned the game on its head as a Willy Boly header and a curling effort from Chelsea academy graduate Callum Hudson-Odoi gave them control of proceedings.

However, Chelsea weren’t willing to accept defeat as Raheem Sterling accurately bent the ball into the bottom corner to set up a grandstand finish with ten minutes to go.

Nicolas Jackson was the hero for the West Londoners two minutes later, as he headed home a winner in front of an away end that erupted when the Senegalese striker found the net.
