Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has refused to rule out Nicolas Jackson leaving the club before the summer transfer window closes.

Jackson has been linked with a move to Newcastle, who want to sign a striker this month given the uncertainty around Alexander Isak’s future.

Eddie Howe’s side have been chasing a number of forwards, but they have so far failed to get anyone in to bolster their frontline.

Jackson has been touted as a possible solution after Chelsea signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer.

And asked about Jackson’s future, Maresca said: “Nico is okay. He’s okay. When the transfer window is open, unfortunately or fortunately, anything can happen.

“This also involves Nico’s situation. At the moment we also had two strikers arrive, both of them in the USA, Joao and Liam. So we will see what happens.”

Chelsea have been proactive with their business this summer and now much of their attention will focus on outgoings.

Maresca has been pleased with Chelsea’s business, so far, and they have bolstered their attack with the likes of Jamie Gittens and Estevao.

“I feel very happy about the new signings, because they are the ones that we were looking at,” said Maresca. “So I’m very happy about that.

“For sure, they need time. First of all, because Jamie, probably, is the only one that knows a little bit the country, the Premier League - even if he is very young.

“The rest, they come from different countries and they need to adopt. So, no rush on them. We are going to give them time to adapt.

“Players like Hato, like for instance Estevao, they need to adapt.”
