The 23-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Blues and makes the switch from German side Werder Bremen.

Peng will officially complete the move to the WSL champions on July 1st when she becomes a free agent.

She told Chelsea’s official website: “It feels so good to be here. When I was 10, I dreamed of playing for Chelsea.

“Now, my childhood dream has come true and it’s so exciting. I’m really happy to join the Chelsea family and get started.

“It’s such a big club. Chelsea want to win titles and so do I. We’re a good match. I’m hungry to win here.”

She will offer competition to Hannah Hampton, who will be England’s starting goalkeeper at Euro 2025 after making Sarina Wiegman’s 23-player squad.

Peng will replace Swedish goalkeeper Zecira Musovic who will leave Chelsea when her contract expires at the end of this month.

Paul Green, head of women’s football at Chelsea, added: “Livia is a proactive and athletic goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at her feet. Out of possession, she protects the space behind her defenders and is strong in one on one situations.

“Livia will add further competition to our already talented goalkeeping group, and we look forward to seeing her develop in a Chelsea shirt.”

Who is Livia Peng?

Chelsea’s newest signing Livia Peng has a lot of experience despite her young age.

She won a league and cup double with FC Zurich in 2019 and 2022 and has made seven appearances for the Swiss national team.

Peng then joined Swiss side BK Hacken in 2022, where she spent the second-half of the campaign on loan at Spanish team Levante.

The 23-year-old then moved to Werder Bremen in 2023, where she quickly established herself as a first-team regular. In the most recent campaign, she helped Werder Bremen reach the German Women’s Cup final for the first time.

In the final, Bremen put up a spirited effort against Bayern Munich but ultimately lost 4-2.

Describing her abilities, Peng told Chelsea’s official website: “I would say I’m an active goalkeeper. I try to give options to the defenders or midfielders as much as possible.

“I’m good in one on one situations. I also try to enjoy the game. I love being in the game and moving around rather than standing still.

“My personal goal is to adapt to the team quickly, to try to get to know everybody and have fun and be happy on the pitch. Then, of course, it’s about winning titles. I’m ambitious and want to win every game.”
